John Phillip Harison Acocks Collection
Collection home page
A collection of about 6000 black and white images in an unmarked cardboard box in the basement of SANBI in Pretoria (then National Botanical Institute) in the mid-1990s and all the images were scanned. J.P.H. Acocks was a well know South African botanist with an extensive botanical collection of some 28000 specimens from South Africa and Namibia. Metadata was typed out from the index books retrieved from colleagues at the ARC (previously part of the Botanical Research Institute). The Acock’s colour slide collection was also retrieved of about 800 images from a Karoo farmer in the early 1990s. These were returned to the National Botanical Institute at the time and subsequently scanned the slides and added the metadata.
